The Falsehood of a Just World

The idea that everyone gets what they deserve and what they ‘earn’ is preposterous. There are merely advantages and disadvantages that determine someone’s place in society. Social status, social connectivity and social normative influence are not to be disregarded as having a dominant stimulus in the ladder of a particular societal hierarchy of that time. Opportunities are driven by the same stimulus also.

To assume that the individual’s free will is the sole key to the idea of cultural success is false. The concept of cultural success is decided upon by the relative norms of that particular society and heavily influenced by social psychology.

People who benefit from this advantageous fortuity, choose to ignore that their standing on a cultural hierarchy is rarely derived by fairness and hard work. Whilst, indeed, there are cases where an individual can climb out of destitute origins, even then, the steps in their path of life is interconnected by probability and it takes certain conformity to ascent these steps.
